Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS MiCROBLADING

Is a form of eyebrow tattooing categorised under permanent makeup, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine. The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra-fine needles and each 'hair' is gently etched into the skin, giving an incredibly natural and realistic look. Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrow and is excellent for those wanting to enhance their brows or who have little to no eyebrows, thinning brows from age or over-tweezed brows. Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow colour and skin tone will also be taken into consideration.

IS MICROBLADING AND FEATHER TOUCH SAME?

Yes, there are many names on the market to make it sounds more attractive, but essentially they are the same thing.

WHAT IS SOFT SHADING

Soft shading or popular know as Ombre brows is also a form of a semi-permanent tattoo, however, the final look is very different from Microblading. Soft shading is performed with something similar to a tattoo gun and 1 needle is used to create a look of makeup like look, or more like a solid eyebrow different from strokes. It can also last 1-3 years depending on skin type. Indicated to all types of clients however know to be more effective on clients with oily skin and cover-up from the previous cosmetic tattoo. The healed results can fade up to 50% leaving a filled eyebrow but yet natural.

WHAT IS COMBO BROWS

Combo Brows is a combination of Strokes and Shading.

WHAT IS BLUSH LIPS

Is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo procedure used to enhance your natural lip colour, giving it shape and even fullness. Indicated for anyone who would like their lips to have more symmetry, scarred lips, not much lip border or anyone who just wants to have more colour added to their lips. It can last up to 3 years, and most of the time it does not require an additional touch up after the first visit, unlike eyebrow procedures. Colour can fade up to 50% once healed leaving only a very natural look.

HOW LONG DOES BLUSH LIPS LAST?

Anywhere between 2 to 3 years.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER BLUS LIPS PROCEDURE?

Lips can swell and bruise up to 24 hours, the colour will appear brighter to start, but will fade up to 50%. Minor peeling can occur on the first 7 days. You will have your lips looking healed within the first 7 days, however full result and assessment for a touch up if necessary will be done after 45 days.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

For the first Microblading, Soft Shading or Blush Lips session, the entire procedure can take from 1.5 up to 2.5 hours. During this session, the specialist will shape and style the client’s brows or Lips for client approval. We then follow with pigment colour selection. Once the client is satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure. The client is to come in for a follow-up visit in order to have any minor necessary touch-ups. The second session takes place after 4-6 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and colour can appear dark straight after, this is normal, and is part of the healing process. In the following days, the eyebrows will appear dark and you will notice slight scabbing generally around the second week. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. The eyebrows can fade up to 40% it will lighten up in colour as it heals.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?

It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over the surface, and about 1 month for the colour to fully set in. You'll notice the colour is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True colour will reveal itself once healed.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

No downtime is required after microblading procedure, however, avoid getting it done close to very important occasions such as weddings, professional photographs session, surgery, warm destination holidays. The reason is your eyebrows will need love tender love and care, doing over a period that you can actually look after them is the best time, post-care is just as important as the actual day.

SHOULD I DO ANYTHING AFTER MY BROWS ARE FULLY HEALED?

Sunscreen. As important it is to use it on your face/body, it is as well on your tattooed brows. We tend to go around the brows area, but now you have a semi-permanent tattoo that also needs protection. Applying sunscreen daily on the brows will give you more longevity and the colours will stay true to themselves.

CAN YOU MICROBLADE OVER AN EXISTING BROW TATTOO?

Microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however, the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. Please advise if you have an existing tattoo and submit a picture to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.

DO YOU DO TOUCH UP FROM OTHER ARTISTS?

No.

Each artist has their own method of work and use different pigments and tools. If an exception is made (upon consulting and approval) a full cost of the service will be charged.

IS THE TOUCH UP SESSION NECESSARY?

For brows Yes! A touch-up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during the first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment colour may need to be adjusted; brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch-up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the colour for the whole year!

IS IT PAINFUL?

The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none. Prior to the procedure your brow technician will apply a topical anaesthetic to numb the area, and also reapplied

during the procedure. Everyone responds differently to anaesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure has been described as light cat scratches to not feeling anything. Topical anaesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.

After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: patients who exfoliates excessively, uses products such as Retinol, AHA or Glycolic Acid with fade faster as your skin will resurface faster. Each individual's colour retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 12-18 months.
